In order to clear up some misunderstanding of our Caddie Challenge format for our Sunday competitions please find below the specifics of the Caddie Challenge event which was started to draw more players to our Sunday comp spots.
The Caddie Challenge format is based on a formula where if you shoot a certain stableford score (adjusted for DSR) you win the prize associated with that DSR adjusted score. It is important to note that the DSR is a reflection of the difficulty of the course on the day and is calculated by Golflink, not the pro shop, and takes into account the number of players, the handicaps of the players, the field size and the scores that are recorded on the day. For instance if the DSR of the day is 71 on a par of 72, your 37 points will be converted to 36 points to determine your Caddie Challenge payout.
The payouts established for Caddie Challenge are based on $8 per entry going back into prizes. The prize table is created by Caddie Challenge (not the pro shop) to payout approximately 70% of the total allocation on each day and used historical comp data from our Sunday events. Some days the payout rate will be higher and some days it will be lower. This allows the unused prize allocation to be carried over to our Jackpot Caddie Challenge rounds on the final Sunday of the month. These jackpot rounds then “bump up” the winnings of any qualifying Caddie Challenge score (34 or more points adjusted for DSR) to the golfers that have played a previous Sunday in the month, rewarding golfers that regularly play on Sundays. The regular Caddie Challenge prizes are still on offer for those players that haven’t qualified themselves for the jackpot prizes.
To sum up, the Caddie Challenge format is paying out 60% more in prizes than our normal comps. Hopefully this helps to shed some light on our Caddie Challenge event. Should there be any queries about the Caddie Challenge events please see Kirk in the pro shop.
