Welcome to this seasons 2017 Thurgoona competition. Hopefully it is a season that will see you and your team mates inspire eachother to greatness and win the Premiership Cup.
The purpose of this email is to introduce you to the rules you will play under and to inspire you to have fun and play well.
You will not have to play each week however it helps. You do not have to change the way you book your game as GPL will simply pick up your score and sort out all the team scores from the clubs normal competition of that day.

Competition
The GPL Premiership consists of 5 league rounds.
At the end of the regular season the top 4 teams progress to the finals.
The 2 bottom placed teams will play-off in a GPL Knockout series held during the time of the finals of the Premiership.

GPL Scoring
Your competition is played on Saturday each round.
Your score will be generated from your individual score submitted to golflink in your club competition round.
Your competition score will be converted to a common score dependent on its difference from the par of the course, 36 points in a stableford event or square in a par event. Par, 36 points or Square will receive a GPL score of 36.
Your score may be adjusted comparing the scratch rating of the course you played to the scratch rating of the course that other competitors played on. If there is no difference in the scratch ratings then no adjustment will be made. Players that play a course with a more difficult scratch rating will have their scores adjusted to compensate having played a more difficult course.
During each round of the regular season, your team’s scores will be determined by the addition of the top 3 scores entered by your team mates. These will be set against your opponent’s team score with either a win, loss or draw giving points to your teams total on the premiership ladder. Your team receives 4 points for a win, 2 points for a draw and 0 points for a loss.

Countbacks
During the finals series, the GPL knockout or GPL Team Survivor, in the event of a draw, a GPL Countback shall be used to determine the winner. The winner will be the team with the best individual score in that round, someone will be the hero. If both teams have the same top individual score it will continue to compare scores until the contributing scorers have been exhausted. If the team score contributors are identical in scoring, then the team with the highest points for during the season to that point will be determined the winner of that match or competition round.
|
|
Incomplete Team Score
If in the event of a team not having 3 contributing scores, then it will be classified as an Incomplete Team score and the team shall automatically receive the score equivalent to the lowest Completed Team Score minus 1 point. This prevents teams being burdened with a large percentage difference as life gets in the way of golf occasionally. If 2 teams both have an incomplete Team score they will be declared a draw by both being converted as above.
|
|
Washouts or Incomplete Rounds
In the event of a round being cancelled for any specific reason, an example being storms or a washout then the club will decide to:
Declare all scores a draw
|
|
Substituting Players
Due to unforeseen circumstances, it is possible a player may need to be substituted from a team during the season. In order to ensure fairness, this can only happen in the first half of the total league season. There can be no substitutions during a finals series.

Best and Fairest Award
There is a Best and Fairest award calculated through the season NOT including finals. The manner of awarding points will be via a proportional allocation of 6 points for each match of each round. The player with the best score gets 3 points, the next best scorer will receive 2 points and the 3rd best scorer will receive 1 point. Any tie of scores will be a proportion of the addition of the points allocated of the tied players. The winner will be the player or players with the most points accumulated from their matches during the Premiership season. There are no points awarded against a bye and only points are awarded in matches that have a minimum of 3 individual players submitting valid scores.
The most important thing to remember is that every shot counts. You and your team mates will bond together and play week after week against the other teams. Only one team will ascend to the top of the mountain. The view is great from up there so inspire your team mates, have fun, turn up and play well.
