What a big week it has been at Thurgoona Country Club Resort Golf Club. A very successful inaugural staging of the NSW Senior Open Championship has been achieved.
I am extremely proud of and eternally grateful for the wonderful efforts of our 90 volunteers that gave their time to ensure the success of the event. We could not have managed to get through the tournament with such wonderful feedback from both the event organisers and the players without the outstanding effort of our Green Team. They approached their tasks with enthusiasm and were only too willing to help out with that little extra, as the week threw us a curve-ball or two.
This wonderful spirit is what makes our club great, and I am so happy to have been a part of this fantastic week. A big thank you, too, for my beautiful wife Veronica, for her support and assistance in coordinating this awesome team.
Adam, our Club Manager, and I are working on a planned Golf Day for our volunteers in the coming weeks. We will provide a meal and have a game of golf together, as a way of showing our appreciation for your fantastic efforts. Keep an eye on Facebook and the club website for details.
As we took on this challenge over several days, not everyone could be present for the team photo on Saturday evening. My sincere and heartfelt thank you to each and every volunteer – you are all champions!
