Division 2 – Scratch Pennant Champions!

Division 2 – Scratch Pennant Champions!
After a stellar season, Thurgoona are the 2019 Division 2 Scratch Pennant Champions.  Undefeated throughout the home and away series, the Division 2 side finished the job with a 3/2 win over Yarrawonga at Commercial Albury on Sunday, April 28.
It was a tight tussle, with result in doubt well into the afternoon.
Greg Daniel – Win 7&6
Marty Semmler – Loss 3&2
Mike Lane – Win 4&2
Truman Addison – Win 3&1
Dave Slade – Loss 3&2
It has been a wonderful team effort throughout the year, culminating in another flag for Thurgoona.  In addition to the above, we were wonderfully served throughout the season by our Captain, Danial Huggard, as well as Bryan Filliponi, Richard Quinn and Gary Davies.
There are quite a few special thanks to be made, after the wonderful support we have received throughout the year, including:
Danial Huggard – his fantastic leadership was invaluable throughout the season.
Simon Hoppe & the Division 1 team – their support was greatly appreciated
Caddies – we were lucky to have a number of caddies and supporters turn out for the final to help our team over the line.
MDGA & NEDGA – The competition has grown in strength in the past 3 years, and will continue to improve going forward, with more teams and playing opportunities across the District
Thurgoona Country Club Resort – Adam and the team have been great supporters of Pennant at Thurgoona for many years, and we appreciate their contribution to the continued success of the Pennant teams.
Veronica Lane – There are a good number of great photos to be shared, with thanks to Veronica for her time throughout the Final.
Penny Graeber – We thank Penny for all of her efforts in coordinating our Junior MDGA team, including some great young golfers from Thurgoona
Commercial Albury Golf Club – The final venue proved to be a fair and decent test, and was presented well in the conditions.
Yarrawonga Golf Club – We have faced off against the teams from Yarrawonga a number of times in recent years, and the matches are always played in great spirit.  They are a fantastic bunch of blokes and they play the game as gentlemen.  I am sure they’ll be back for another crack next year.
Congratulations to everyone involved in coordinating and playing Pennant for Thurgoona this year.  I look forward to a strong Handicap and Masters Pennant series later in the year, and then another crack at Scratch glory in 2020.  Go Thurgoona!
Regards,
Mike Lane
