SCHWEPPES CLASSIC UPDATE

Attention All Members

The Following Information has been issued by GolfNSW:

An updated Public Health Order will also come into force on Monday, October 11th, 2021.

Details of the changes that come into effect on that date for the sport and recreation sector that relate to golf (for Local Government Areas not under “Stay at Home” orders from October 11th) include:

OUTDOOR SPORT AND EXERCISE

  • The Public Health Order states that fully vaccinated people can undertake sport and exercise at outdoor public gatherings in groups of up to 20
  • Unvaccinated people can only undertake sport and exercise at outdoor gatherings in groups of up to a maximum of two

CLUBHOUSE OPERATIONS

  • Hospitality areas have been listed in the Public Health Order as a ‘higher risk premise’
  • Any person entering a club premise (clubhouse), including the pro shop, must be fully vaccinated
  • Unvaccinated people can only enter a club premise/pro shop for takeaway purposes (food and drink) and click and collect
  • A club must take reasonable steps to ensure a person complies with the Public Health Order when entering premises
  • The golf course and clubhouse surrounds if club rules permit, can be accessed/utilised by unvaccinated patrons in line with outdoor gathering restrictions
  • Club staff must wear a face mask when dealing directly with members of the public unless they have an exception to do so under the Public Health Order
  • Organisations are expected to have an up-to-date COVID-19 Safety Plan in place

GOLF

  • Fully vaccinated persons may play in groups of four and may share a cart
  • Those not fully vaccinated may play in groups of two and are not permitted to share a cart
  • COVID Safe local rules should continue to be adopted

As this will be enforced from Monday the 11th of October anyone that is not fully vaccinated will not be eligible to be included in the main draw of the Schweppes Classic nor will they be able to play in the team events. Full refunds will be issued to those ineligible to play.

For those who are not vaccinated or are still yet to receive their second jab social golf will be still permitted with prior arrangement through the pro shop. As demand for competition spots on popular days is quite high priority will be given to groups of four with remaining places (if any) to be allocated when possible.

It is the obligation of the business and staff to ensure the Public Health Order is followed so I thank everyone for their understanding, cooperation, and honesty throughout this period.

Yours Sincerely

Adam Fitzgerald
