Frost Damage – member letter 2024
Dear Members and Guests,
I would encourage all motorised golf carts to avoid driving on the course during frost as considerable damage occurs to the playing surfaces. Several photos in the link on this post show the damage, and what is more concerning is that some of the damage has occurred not far from concrete or dirt paths that should be being used.
When there is frost on the grass surface or plant, it becomes frozen, which causes the plant to be very brittle. In addition, traffic causes the plant to break, which is noticeable on the surface by the black or white track marks. Critical damage also occurs underneath the surface, which can cause plant death and disease, and the plant’s crown can be severed from its roots, causing a delay in its greening up after winter.
If you are going to use your motorised golf cart during the frost, please always remain on the rough and on designated paths. Do Not Drive On The Fairways For Any Reason.
