Course Update – Renovations
Greens:
– Greens renovation is complete, with some light topdressing over the coming weeks to improve
recovery.
– Recovery has had minor setbacks, with greens being slightly softer due to the rain before aerating,
causing scaring, and we have experienced some fertiliser burns. These actions weakened turf areas,
creating a secondary problem of the disease Pythium, causing small irregular spots on the greens. The
greens have been treated with a fungicide, and a follow-up application will be made. Some plugging
and sodding will be required to assist the recovery.
– Mowing heights and rolling has resumed back normal maintenance before the greens renovation.
Bunkers:
– Sand levels are to be checked, and tyre rolling of the bunker’s faces will occur to firm them up.
PLEASE NOTE: This reminds golfers not to walk up the bunker faces as this affects the firmness.
Fairways:
– 16mm solid tine to 100mm in depth, 80% of works completed
– Doubled scalped mown to a height of 10mm to reduce thatch.
– Fertiliser, pesticide, and pre-emergent herbicide applications will commence in the coming weeks.
Tees:
– 16mm solid tine to 100mm in depth
– Scarified, topdressed and double scalped mown to a height of 8mm to reduce thatch.
– Fertiliser, pesticide, and pre-emergent herbicide applications will commence in the coming weeks.
Rough:
– 12mm solid tine to 100mm depth, fully completed
– Fertiliser, pesticide, and pre-emergent herbicide applications will commence in the coming weeks.
– Commence mowing height 50mm.
Collars:
– 12mm solid tine to 150mm depth
– Scarified, topdressed and double scalped mown to a height of 8mm to reduce thatch.
– Fertiliser, pesticide, and pre-emergent herbicide applications will commence in the coming weeks.
– Our Kikuyu control has commenced with additional seeding and sodding required, including extra
fertiliser application, to assist recovery of these areas.
The course is on track for the NSW Senior Open with slightly earlier spring weather and only a minor setback
from the frosts and cooler night temperatures this week, slowing growth conditions
