Preferred lies:  On closely mown sections of the general area (fairway), a player may mark their ball, lift, clean and replace within a card-length, not nearer the hole.  The ball MUST be marked before lifting.  This relief is not available in the rough, in penalty areas, on the putting green, or in bunkers.
