Subject: Internet Surveys on World Handicap System and Modernisation of the Rules of Golf

Golf’s international governing bodies are the R&A and the United States Golf Association.  They, in consultation with Golf Australia, are working on two major initiatives that will directly impact all Australian golfers – a modernisation of the Rules of Golf, and a World Handicap System.

The R&A and USGA are conducting internet surveys on these two subjects.  The two internet surveys are available from www.golf.org.au/have-your-say.  Each survey can be completed in about 10 minutes.  In addition, a pop-up message promoting these surveys will be presented to all users of the Golf Australia website (www.golf.org.au) for a two-week period commencing Monday 24 July.

We would encourage as many Australian club administrators and golfers as possible to do these surveys.  Responses to the handicapping survey will be very helpful in informing Golf Australia’s ultimate position on the World Handicap System.  Note that questions in the handicapping survey will identify whether the response is being provided by an administrator or a player.

We would also encourage you to promote these surveys directly to your members – this is their chance to have their say on these two important topics.  It would be best to do this promotion before 7 August in order to ensure all responses receive appropriate consideration by the R&A, USGA, and Golf Australia.
