All competition golfers please note:
The current rule in effect for competition golf at Thurgoona allows for Lift, Clean and Replace through the green. This rule is in effect to give players the opportunity to clean their ball of any mud or grass but requires (a) the player to mark their ball before lifting it and (b) the ball to be replaced in the exact same spot on the course as outlined in Rule 20-1. Through the green applies to all areas of the course (including the rough) except for hazards and the green of the hole being played. This Local Rules applies to all competition golf at Thurgoona including Vets, Ladies and Men’s 9 hole and 18 hole events.
Please note that this Local Rule is different from Preferred Lies which allow the player to position the ball within one card length of where it was lifted, no nearer the hole. The Committee will consider moving to preferred lies if and when course conditions warrant such a move.
It is each player’s (and their marker’s) responsibility to ensure that this Local Rule is being applied correctly. If there is any doubt about this Local Rule or any concerns about a person’s implementation of this Local Rule please see the pro shop staff or a member of the Golf Committee.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation to ensure an equal application of this Local Rule and a level playing field for all competitors.
