The Golf Committee is pleased to introduce Thurgoona’s Keep Pace program- an effort to ensure that competition rounds at Thurgoona are played in a reasonable pace to the benefit and enjoyment of all golfers. Awareness is a key element of the program and as such, all members will receive a copy of the attached brochure over the next couple of weeks which outline the program and the Committee’s expectations surrounding a reasonable pace of play.
Please note that your pace of play is determined in MiClub by comparing the time that you scan your scorecard to your tee time (as listed on the computer) and subtracting 10 minutes as an allowance for the time taken to get up from the 18th green, check and sign your scorecard prior to scanning it. To this end, it is important that golfers are ready to tee off at their tee time, that they notify pro shop staff if they are changing groups (as this would change their starting time) and that they scan their cards immediately after their round (prior to putting equipment away etc). The quickest time recorded in the group will be considered as the group’s time.
For the purpose of the program you are deemed to have made a “bad time” should your group finish more than 10 minutes behind the group in front you and take more than 4 hours and 10 minutes. For the next two weeks the committee will be examining the reports and providing the membership an indication as to how many groups made bad times. From Wednesday 15th July, the reports will be made public on MiClub and posted on the notice board in the hall outside the pro shop. It is understood that there may be some adjustment period as everyone gets used to the program and makes any necessary changes to their on-course habits which would move them from a bad time to a good time. It is encouraging to see the positive impact that the printing of the pace on the scorecards has already had in reducing average round times at Thurgoona.
Thank you for embracing and abiding by Thurgoona’s Keep Pace program.
