All members please note that our Preferred Lies Local Rule includes a paragraph at the end which reads “A player may not take relief under this Local Rule if interference other than poor turf condition makes the stroke clearly impracticable”.  The reason this has been included is that the Rules don’t normally allow for preferred lies through the green (they recommend only closely mown areas).  In order for us to have preferred lies through the green we need to maintain the integrity of the course by ensuring players are not getting relief from trees or other undesirable lies because of a Local Rule whose intent is to allow for as good ground condition as possible.  It is each marker’s responsibility to ensure that their player is not “escaping” a poor situation because of the preferred lie Local Rule.
