The second finals week of WWC is coming this Saturday. We are down to 4 teams left chasing the coveted title.
Round one of the finals was a keenly contested affair. The Jug A Naut were put to the sword at the hands of Norfolk & Chance, ending their campaign for the season. Harder to shake than a penicillin resistant rash, the Norfolkers continue to defy the odds and live to fight another day.
In the biggest result for week 1, early season favourites Spray N Wipes were cleaned up by Horace’s Heroes. Lodgey led the way for Horace’s and they were too strong for the artists formerly known as Akers Hackers. The cleaning crew are young and resilient, though, and will surely come back next season being better for the finals experience.
Drawshanks toppled the Hosel Rockets 3.0 for the second week in a row, with Sladey in stunning form. The Hosels were the benchmark throughout the home and away series, but they risk going out in straight sets if they can’t right the ship this week. Pressure is on.
This weeks matches are intriguing, and may take a different complexion after the changes to the handicap system this past week.
Semi Final # 1 – Hosel Rockets 3.0 vs. Norfolk & Chance (winner to the Prelim Final. Loser is eliminated)
Semi Final # 2 – Drawshank Redeptions vs. Horace’s Heroes (winner to the Grand Final. Loser to the Prelim Final)
Just a heads up – Presentation Night will be Friday 13th March, including the Best & Fairest Medal count. Further details to follow.
Now is the time we see if pretenders can be contenders, and just how they like the heat in the kitchen. Bring on the banter, lads. It’s all to play for.
Cheers
Mike Lane
