The semi finals are in the books, and what a week it was in WWC.
Before I get into it – please note that the GPL website is now updated with the correct finals format for the remainder of the finals series.  Details also attached, FYI.
Back to the lead story – our season long ladder leaders, the Hosel Rockets 3.0, have been despatched in straight sets, losing their semi final to the plucky crew from Norfolk & Chance.  The Hosels put up a good fight – with our sponsor Mark Tomich playing through injury, and some tough afternoon golf conditions – but it was in vain as they went down by a single, solitary, point to the Norfolkers.  This format can be a challenge for a team heavily laden with very low markers, but the Hosel Rockets did it well for most of the year, falling at the final hurdles.
The other semi final wasn’t quite as close, although it still came down to the last team player out on the golf course.  Needing a 36 point haul from Bicko in tough conditions, the Horace’s came up a little short against Drawshank Redemptions.  Bicko’s team mates were slow out of the blocks and never caught up on the day, despite a fighting 36 from Lodgey.  Drawshanks were consistent across the team and managed to total up a 105 to cover the 101 from Horace’s.
Horace’s managed to pick up a double chance, though, and they will now face off against the Norfolk & Chance lads on 22 February for a place in the Grand Final against the Drawshanks the following week.  The Norfolkers could be back to full strength, having got through last week despite being 1 short with Gary Davies away.  The experienced campaigners from Horace’s Heroes won’t lie down, though, and I am sure it will be a ding-dong battle for a ticket to the big dance.
Don’t forget – Wardrobe World Cup Presentation Night will be Friday 13th March, including the Best & Fairest Medal count. Further details to follow.
We have a week off this week, with a 4BBB event programmed for this Saturday.  It’s a good chance to regroup and prepare for the remaining rounds.  Have fun with it guys.
Cheers
Mike Lane
