Wardrobe World Cup – Preliminary Final Week

This is where the rubber meets the road….  Time to stand up and be counted.  Two teams will battle it out this week for a ticket to the big dance – the Grand Final.

The Preliminary Final of the 2019-20 Wardrobe World Cup is this Saturday.  Horace’s Heroes will square off against Norfolk & Chance for the right to play in the Grand Final against Drawshank Redemptions.

The Norfolkers are coming off a win against WWC heavyweights, Hosel Rockets 3.0.  These guys have scratched and clawed their way through the season, and have managed to bring it when needed in the finals.  With a mix of very steady golf and some individual brilliance, Norfolk & Chance have been the surprise packet at the pointy end of the season.  They will need everyone to dig deep again this week, and will be bolstered by the return of Gary Davies.  The team will also include:  Graham Booth, Terry East, Geoff Fisher, Russell Elliott, and Ernie Salsbury.  As a team, they carry a little more handicap than their opponents into the match, and will only need 1 or 2 big scores to really bust it open.

Horace’s Heroes are some of the more experienced campaigners of the competition, and have benefited from an early finals win that produced a double chance.  Losing last round to Drawshanks, they’ve got a chance at redemption if they can get past the plucky Norfolkers.  President Peter Mannall will lead the charge, no doubt, as he loves a good match.  Look for great support to come from Killa, Lodgey and co., as they will not lie down.  The team will include:  Mannall, Killa, Lodgey, Jason Cawthray, Bicko, and Mick Peters.  Plenty of firepower among that lot and if it all clicks on the day, they will be very hard to beat.

Drawshank Redemptions lie in wait for the winner, and I expect it to be a ripper of a battle.  It will be the scrappiest of dogfights – the underdogs versus the woofers.  May the best team win!

Enjoy lads…. 🙂

Cheers,

Mike Lane
