Hi folks.  Let me start by saying that there are continued problems with the GPL website and the scoring updates.  I am hopeful they can work them out soon.  For now, I am doing the scoring manually, so please bear with me.  I will try to keep it as up to date as possible after each round.

Here is a a wrap up of Round 2 matches, and I’ve drawn up the respective Pool Ladders (see below) to let you keep an eye on your teams progress.

We had some lovely weather for round 2, and there were some pretty hot scores posted.  This is how it shook out….

Pool A:

Grip N Sip def. Chronic Fatigue 109 – 107.

The club champ had some solid support from his team this week, with a hot 39 from Ben Alexander and a solid 36 from Robbo to post a good team number.  Luke Anstee led the way for Chronic Fatigue with a super 41, but it was not enough in this high scoring battle.

Angry Aardvarks def. Cockatoos 103-99

With the Mayor and Arm Candy missing this week, the Aardvarks found some form.  Rusty Parkin posted a great 38, with support for the ever-reliable Scotty Redman and new recruit Darren Beddoes.  Only Fuzzy Lyon fired a shot for the Budgie Smugglers, with a respectable 35.  Are the defending champs on the ropes?

Drawshank Redemptions def. The Back 9 Bandits 105-94

Playing a man short, the Drawshanks dug deep and posted a solid 105, led by Sladey with an easy 37.  Semi-pro Cade Webb coughed up a big one, but managed a solid 36 in support.  Only Andrew Williams stood tall for the Back 9 Bandits with a robust 36 points.

Pool B:

Par Then Bar def. Jug A Nauts 109-102

The Bar Flies continue on their merry way, with a workmanlike victory over the improving Jug A Nauts.  Daisy Franz was the star this week with 37, and the brothers‘ Franz made it an All-Franz-Affair with a pair of 36’s.  Tom Wilmore was the best of the Jugs with 35, but they were outgunned across the board.

Jugheads def. 3-Non-Johns 95-93

In a dour struggle, the Jugheads got their season moving with a a solid win over the lack-lustre Non Johns.  Woody led the charge with 34 points.  Bicko and Justin Timberlake were left to hold the fort for the Non Johns, but lacked support as the rest of the team misfired.

RUMOUR FILE:  An anonymous source tells me that Bicko may have done some inadvertent earthwork with his driver on 14 tee, taking a little divot some distance behind the ball.  Perhaps carrying the team load is too much for the big fella?  As for the source from within the Non Johns, who could say?  It could have been any Tom, RICHARD, or Harry…..  A good journalist never reveals his sources…

40 Over def. Par Tee Time 105-92

After a big debutant performance, the Par Tee Time crew hit a snag in Round 2.  They were steamrolled by 40 Over, with Garry Shepherd posting a big 38 to lead the assault.  A strong performance across the team from 40 over… they may be warming to the task.

Pool C:

Lynch Mob def. Wuhan Warriors 113-96

A big score from the Lynch Mob, and none more than Big John with a huge 43 points.  Lynchie and Steady in support with 35s made for a huge team total.  The Wuhan Crew could only post a sickly looking total this week, and may need to do a RAT before next week, to make sure they are firing on all cylinders.

Who’s ya caddy?  def. Squirrel Nation 94-92

Another low scoring affair saw the Caddy Lads take the points.  Bernie Kelly posted an honourable 36 as a solo shining light.  The Squirrels appear in disarray, already calling for a mid-season draft.  They must be nuts!

Hosel Rockets def. Why knots untangled? 98-92

There were no individual standouts across these 2 teams, as both groups are slow to find their feet this season.  The Why Knots appear to have stepped it up this year and made this a close battle.  Hopefully both teams will be back to full strength by Round 3.

Here are the respective ladders (attached) for each Pool after Round 2.

Round 3 is Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th June.

Enjoy the off-week, folks.  Rest up and prepare for the next battle in a couple of weeks.

Cheers,

Laney
