World Handicap System (WHS) 30 January 2020

A World Handicap System for golf will come into effect on 30 January 2020. For Australia this involves minimal changes to the current G.A. Handicap System, but there are some new calculations that should be noted. These include bonus reductions of the player’s handicap for exceptional scores (7 shots or more better than handicap); and a new soft cap of 3 shots that works in conjunction with the existing hard cap (or player anchor) of 5 shots.

More information on WHS is available from the following link and there is a poster outside the Thurgoona pro shop that includes all details.

Please note for Thurgoona competition the existing handicap maximum of 45 for women and 36 for men has been retained.
