Wow!\u00a0 Just wow!\u00a0 What an amazing day at Thurgoona Country Club Resort for the annual Beyond Blue Golf Day<\/strong><\/span> on Saturday January 22.<\/p>\n

The enormous support shown by members and guests has resulted in a HUGE donation for Beyond Blue of $5,172.80!<\/strong><\/span> \u00a0That sets a new record for us here at Thurgoona, and it will go to an organisation that provides wonderful education and support for mental health and suicide awareness and prevention in Australia.<\/p>\n

We raised these funds through entry fees, online donations, wristband sales, golden hole fees, and a great putting competition (thanks Huggy for the idea and for organising).\u00a0 The icing on the cake was our monster raffle, with over $2,500 worth of prizes (see list of winners attached).\u00a0 If you were lucky enough to win something, any uncollected prizes are available for pick-up from the Pro Shop.<\/p>\n

It was wonderful to see everyone embrace the day, wearing blue to show their support.\u00a0 It was a sea of blue everywhere that you looked throughout the day.<\/p>\n

This day is run in conjunction with the Kirkman Cup, where the Pennant teams vie for the trophy named in honour of our late member, Tannah Kirkman.\u00a0 The Men\u2019s Division 2 Scratch team was victorious this year and will proudly have their name added to the trophy for 2022.<\/p>\n

Thank you to all of the volunteers that helped to make the day a success, from organising sponsor prizes, coordinating ticket sales and putting competitions, and helping to keep the day running smoothly.\u00a0 Special thanks to Danial Huggard, Martin Semmler, Andrew Cirovic, David Ley, Mark Chandler, Cameron Creek, Darren McFarlane, Greg Daniel, Julie Colman, Joan Pryor, Veronica Lane, Adam Fitzgerald and Pro Shop staff Luke and Bryan.\u00a0 Thank you, too, to Dean Lewis and Jason Berkhout from the greens staff \u2013 the extra effort of the blue flags, cups, and putting competition setup was appreciated by all.\u00a0 Days like this cannot succeed without the contribution of great folks like all of these.<\/p>\n

I cannot express how proud I am to be a member of this great club.\u00a0 We are incredibly lucky to be surrounded by so many wonderful people, and we get to call them friends.\u00a0 On behalf of the President Danial, Captain Martin, the Golf Committee, Veronica and myself, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to you all.<\/p>\n
